Hellocon recap, upcoming releases

It’s been a while since I wrote here. Wanted to do a little retrospect on Labyrinths of Dreams – Hellocon Ry’s 10 year anniversary event in Helsinki, Finland. I’ve been going to each event since the start of when they were starting and I hope to continue this tradition for years to come.

I’m always so impressed how much the event improves every year and I love to see when they make it in a new location than the last one – giving us a chance to see Finland from several angles.

This time the event was set in a historical student’s building in the very centre of Helsinki. It was great in a sense that everything was within arm’s reach and the afterparty was very near the location as well.

The place was wonderful and even though it was a bit hot (understandable with the amount of people).

It was wonderful seeing vlogs about the event from other point of view as well as I regretfully had little chance to run around and see other stalls. But the addition of an artist’s alley was a great touch – I think it’s wonderful, that we celebrate the art that comes of the fashion and I hope to see it in the following years as well.

A fun thing I got to do was to create a couple of Moomin-related pieces for the event. I’ve acquired some of the fabric in my last trip and I got lucky finding a matching lace for it as well. The pieces were a hit and were first to go. I wish I’d gotten more of both the lace and the material beforehand, but I got a few more Moomin prints for a small skirt release for an upcoming EMIM anniversary, so keep an eye out for the next newsletter.

Speaking of recurring events – EMIM will take part in this years’ Nightshade and Ursa Major as well! There will be belts made specifically for Nightshade and I’ve send all pieces, that were left over from Hellocon for a second change at Nightshade.

Ursa Major will bring gobelin pieces, that I’ve been wanting to make for a while! (There will be more gobelin in the future, too!)

More releases to look forward to – Halloween! I didn’t think I’d have the time, but I managed to make a few pieces for a Halloween release – it will include a couple of Pumpkin themed jsks and custom sizing bat skirts!

On a more melancholy note – come next year – I will slowly stop offering Old Master’s prints in polyester. I will do an official post/newsletter about this, but I hope to bring some new surprises in stead. I’ve been looking for natural material options and I hope to offer a run of old favorites with those after the polyester versions are cut off. I will be offering Old Masters (including original 1st release prints) and the Orchard in natural materials for sure, but if you have any other of the past print releases you’d like to see in natural fiber version – don’t  hesitate to let me know!

Here’s a preview of the linen orchard version I had made for Labyrinth of Dreams (linen base fabric, linen printed fabric, cotton lace).

As you see – the second part of the year has been quite eventful for me. I’m still trying to find the best balance for me not to burn out again, I think I’m slowly getting the hang of it. Perhaps small releases over time is the best way for me.

I hope you all are doing well,
~Ze

Second life release

I recently released a collection made out of mainly repurposed and/or vintage materials. Here’s a small lookthough:

As you can see this is a bit more substantial collection than I’ve recently done – quite a bit more pieces. I think making each item in some way unique really helps my creativity and boots the productivity of the releases, so I might use this way in the future. I’m already acquiring materials for the second release of Second life, so stay tuned, if you missed out on the first.

The next one to follow will finally be the final release of The Orchard. The interest will show if I need to do this release in two parts or just one will be enough.

Fundraiser items for Ukraine

The tragedy happening in Europe right now is terrible and I want to try and help as much as I can. Here’s your chance to get an item and help the Ukrainians against this madness.

I’ve released a small collection of items and I will be donating 100% of the sales to The UN Refugee Agency. If you’d like to – you can donate to them directly or any other confirmed help agency.

All items, that are part of this release will be marked with a little Ukrainian flag, to make sure you know, which ones will fund the donation. All will be under the ‘Ukraine fundraiser’ category. Any sales of this release will be donated as they come until all are sold and sent. I have been and will continue updating here for any progress.

Vacation

In April (1-15) I will be going my second vacation in 10+ years, so please bare with lack or response. Shops will be put on vacation mode, but some items are always available in Lolita Collective.
My apologies for the inconvenience, but being a one person army takes a toll on me and I should probably get myself some off time before I burn out completely.

Thank you for understanding!

Past events

Here’s a quick recap of past events along with pieces, specially released for each of them. Work has been bountiful, so there’s been little to no time to update socials and this news section. I will try my best to update better in future. I have a blogpost about this happening this year outside of this update coming up, so I will explain more there.

Gramarye was one of the last 2020 event and it was everything I like! With the stressful time I had little time to enjoy the event itself, but, thankfully, BeayAreaKei have uploaded most of the panels in their youtube channel!

For this event I tried my best to create themed looks and even made several more Lover’s eye belt versions, including a demon one

It was actually really fun creating looks for a specific theme and I tired my best to do it for the future events, too.

Royal Vegas online followed Gramarye, but I’ve already written about it and will go on to the first event of the year 2021 – Garnet Geateu! It was a Valentines/Galentines day themed event.

I created a couple of new prints like the Teapot print in pink and the ‘Birds’ print, that was origianlly a William Morris design (I just altered it for print purposes and added a red colorway to the original blue).

and I also brought back some of the original first release Old Master’s prints – ‘Afternoon tea’ and ‘A humorous tale’.

HelloGalaxy! was the most recent event, just finished yesterday! It was the very first online event organized by Hellocon Ry group and was really fun and made me miss the irl events and familiar faces! ♥

I made ‘Supper Massive Caledioscope’ print specifically for this event and was super excited to finally find use for some material, that have been waiting for their time to shine – the Colors of Space allover prismatic/tiedie-like soft mesh print and the black tulle with silver glitter, that felt perfect for the space theme. I loved the design for Valentina dress I made for Garnet Gateu, so I recreated it in all black.

I don’t have any new events planned currently aside from Domus Reginae, that will be at the very end of the year, but I will do my best to update as soon as I plan to have any. I’ve actually created a small section in the shop, where all past and upcoming events are visible neatly in order. you can view that here.

Royal Vegas Online – first panel!

Gramarye event came and went before I could sit down. I have to say, that juggling two works is quite a feat, hats off to anyone studying and working at the same time – how do you do it?

In little under two weeks I will be having my very first panel on how to make headbows! It’s very exciting, but also nerve-wracking! I hope I do a good job as I’m quite awkward on camera ^^;

To learn more about the event, see their fb page!
